As a mom—especially a first-time mom—you need a good support system: a community of people you can count on to be there for you!  Motherhood is a journey, one that doesn’t come with an instruction manual. I think if you were to ask any mom if they feel like they have it all figured out, they might laugh and say, “Absolutely not, but I’m doing the best I can.” And if we were honest with ourselves, we feel that same way—and that’s ok! This is why you need community!

Here are a few ideas of where to start if you are looking for community:

1. Join a Mom Group on Facebook

Search for a mom group in your local area. You will find out that you aren’t alone in wanting some mom friends! A mom group on Facebook can be a great place to get advice or just to read about what other moms are navigating in the same season of life you are in.

2. Find a Bible Study

Try searching in the mom group you found and see if there are any local Bible studies you can join with other moms. And if you can’t find one that meets in person—or you’d rather do it online—that works too!

3. Schedule an Appointment with One of Our Counselors

Maybe it would help if you found just one person you can trust enough to open up to. At Cecil Pregnancy and Family Resource Center, we know it can be hard to open up to someone you don’t know, but we have space for you!  We would love to be the village you may need! And if you don’t have someone to watch your little one, bring them with you! It would bring us so much joy to not only love you, but also your precious child!

You were created to need community! Life was never meant to be lived alone. Please don’t isolate yourself. I know it can be tough to put yourself out there, and it may be hard to find your people, but once you do, I think you’ll be so thankful you gave it a try!
